David T. Wong, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Wong founded Tri Valley Gastroenterology Medical Center in 1997 with the goal of bringing to the East Bay a university level of gastroenterology.

To accomplish this, he has applied his extensive academic and clinical experiences. After receiving his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, he completed his Internal Medicine residency at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. After he completed his Gastroenterology fellowship, he remained at Stanford on the voluntary clinical faculty, teaching and conducting research in Gastroenterology for six years. Dr. Wong is currently on the medical staff of San Ramon Regional Medical Center, ValleyCare Health System, John Muir/Mt. Diablo Health Systems, and San Ramon Endoscopy Center.
Dr. Wong has special interests in colon cancer screening and other disorders of the esophagus, stomach and colon. He specializes in treatment of reflux disease or GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux disease).
Dr. Wong was one of the first physicians in California to perform the Plicator gastroplication, a FDA approved endoscopic treatment for GERD. He is an author of the important recent large multi-center international study demonstrating the effectiveness of the Plicator gastroplication procedure:
